WELCOME TO THE SOCIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT!
One of the programs of Pangasinan State University under the College of Education is the Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Social Studies which primarily aims to develop highly motivated and competent teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for secondary education.
In this program, we merely do not teach our students how to teach. We also liberate them from political illiteracy without veering off the University’s Vision and Mission. Certainly, the pedagogical knowledge exhibited by the Instructors and/or Professors from the Social Studies Department and the riveting real-life experiences that the program provides help students realize that we people, regardless of our sex, age, and economic status, must become political literate by not just being active in politics but rather, being responsible, well-informed and assertive agents of dissent.
Furthermore, the Social Studies Department is a purveyor of students and graduates who can survive in different Industrial Revolutions and who will be of great help in promoting our own cultural values and beliefs, stewarding our own precious ecological treasures, strengthening our territorial boundaries and minimizing perennial problems in our community.
Despite of uncertainties and insurmountable challenges, the Social Studies Department assures to make progress and consistently succeed in order to better serve its clients.

Nature of the Field of Study
The BSEd is an undergraduate teacher education program designed to equip learners with adequate and relevant competencies to teach in their chosen area of specialization/major in the secondary level.
