JOURNEYING ACCREDITATION WITH SANGUINITY: THE PSU-SCC DECENCY

In pursuit of excellence and delivering quality instruction, research, extension, and production as the four-fold functions of the University, the key programs of PSU San Carlos  City Campus sanguinely journeyed on accreditation under the courses of the leadership of the past and present  Campus Executive Directors, Dr. Adonis Siapno Bautista, and Dr. Marie Claire Bustarde Briones.

Armed with passion and dedication, the pool of experts gathered in one sphere for the accreditation of curricular programs of PSU- SCC which is the main function of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc.

PSU-SCC’s pool of faculty heads, Dr. Cristina Lamsen Javier (College Dean of Education), Dr. And Julie Rosal (Dean of CHMBAC), Dr. Balbina R. Gutierrez (College Dean of Agriculture), and Prof. Arceli Adoracion Gapuz-Ramos (Quality Assurance Coordinator) spearheaded the local accreditation ventured last March 16, 2021. This marked the beginning of the journey of the PSU-SCC campus to the AACCUP Accreditation.

During that course, the PSU-SCC teaching and non-teaching personnel were marked with eager hopefulness in burgeoning the ten areas of accreditation, Dr. Manolito C. Manuel, the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Support Services together with Dr. Rosario B. Miguel, the Head for International and Local Accreditation, catenated and spearheaded the diligent Pillars of Accreditation as they assessed and evaluated the burped documents securely uploaded by the designated Area Chairpersons, indefatigable Faculty Members and Non-Teaching Staff of the campus.

Dr. William Cayetano led the assessment for Area 1: Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives, for Area 2: Faculty, Dr. Cielo C. Fernandez took the lead, Dr. Razeale G. Resultay headed Area 3: Curriculum & Instruction, for Area 4: Support to Students, Prof. Celeste T. Mercado notched the evaluation, Dr. Balbina R. Gutierrez, supervised the checking for Area 5: Research, for Area 6: Extension and Community Involvement, Dr. Maryann Macaranas initiated the validation, while for Area 7: Library, Dr. Winona Perado had an online checking, Area 8: Physical Plant and Facilities was headed by Prof. Evelyn B. Lomboy, for Area 9: Laboratories, Dr. Ramil L. Dacal scored the assessment while Dr. Zosima Sison managed the review on Area 10: Administration.

 To cinch the conformity and compliance of the programs with the standards and prudence in the management affairs, the accreditors seized one-day checking, mentoring, coaching, review, and evaluation to secure the accuracy, exactitude, and repleteness of the evidence and documents for having at least uploaded twenty-five percent of the needed files in preparation for the virtual Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines Accreditation on May that year, which had been noted in the history of the campus accreditation.

At present, Pangasinan State University- San Carlos City Campus keeps on achieving success and building progress as it attained and aced up its accreditation statuses for its key programs videlicet:

Bachelor of Elementary Education(Enhanced General Education) Level 3 Phase 1, Bachelor of Secondary Education-Social Studies and Filipino, Level 2 Re-accredited, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Human Resource Development Management,  Finance Management (New), Marketing Management (New) Level 2 Re-accredited, Bachelor of Science in Office Administration Level 1 Accredited, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management Level 1 Accredited, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Level 2 Re-accredited, and Bachelor in Technology and Livelihood Education (from BSE TLE) Home Economics (new program/migrated program) Level 2 Re-accredited.

Further, this was made possible with the support of the five vice presidents and the transformatively visionary President of the University, Dr. Dexter Respicio Buted.

With these humble strokes of genius and fulfillment, PSU-San Carlos City Campus girds one’s loins to move ahead and take a lead in achieving relevance and excellence in all its functions for the greatest interests and welfare of its community clients.

Truly, with its competent workforce, PSU-SCC will continue of being an asset to the University system by proliferating the best it could give its constituents to carve a niche in the field of instruction, research, extension, and production.
