Training

The Pangasinan State University – San Carlos Campus conducted an extension activity entitled “Personality Development Training Seminar” for the barangay officials, barangay health workers, and SK officials of Barangay Payapa, San Carlos City, Pangasinan on March 4, 2017.

          Personality development according to personalitydevelopment.org is an improvement in all spheres of an individual’s life, be it be with friends, in the office or in any other environment. In any given situation, one stands out if his or her personality is one that is bright and communicative. People skills are a vital part of any personality development program. A balance in behavior and is moderate in his or her reactions in public while simultaneously maintaining a friendly, approachable, yet sensible approach towards people are individuals with pleasing personality.

          Such is the main purpose of this training seminar – providing the necessary skills and knowledge on basic personality development, such as personal hygiene and good grooming, as well as proper work etiquette.

          But before that, the extension program was officially started with the opening remarks of Dr. Josephine D. Reyes, chairperson of the BSBA & BSOA Department. She made mention that Extension is one of the major function areas that the university must undertake for it to be recognized and evaluated by authorities. She also emphasized the importance of strengthening relationships with the community focusing on the needs of the clients through extension services conducted by the campus.

          Ms. Marmie R. Poquiz, the campus extension services coordinator delivered the statement of purpose of the said extension activity and presented the participants- barangay community, faculty and students who participated on the said activity.

          Dr. And Julie D. Rosal, Dean of the College of Hospitality Management, Business Administration and Computing (CHMBAC), rendered his inspirational message and talked about the significance of knowing the basic concepts of personality development in order to strengthen resonant leadership and develop further skills on people management and why it’s a big help to the officials of Barangay Payapa.

          Hon. Ricardo Magalong, the barangay captain, also delivered his message and gave thanks to the PSU administration, to the department, faculty members, and students who organized the said training. He further added that he was hoping that the campus will continue helping the barangay with more extension activities catering their other needs.

          Ms. Marmie R. Poquiz started the 2nd part of the extension activity program with her topic on personality development and focused on the basic concepts surrounding it.

          Dr. Marie Claire B. Briones, the Campus Executive Director, delivered her lecture on personal hygiene and good grooming. Dr. Briones served as lecturer and facilitator together with selected faculty members. She also asked some participants to be models for the demonstration of proper work etiquette.

          After the lecture, the participants further enhance the knowledge they have gained through a workshop. They were given sets of materials such as make up kits to work with. Afterwards, distribution of certificates took place.  

Outreach

As the whole world facing the threats of the pandemic, the Pangasinan State University has its significant role to fight the battle with the unknown enemy. Thru the initiative and leadersip of University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted together with its academic community members organized a Food Pack Donation Drive to those in the frontlines—the medical workers, PNP and DILG personnel, LGU skeletal staff, and Barangay officials.

PSU-GAD honors WonderJuanas in 2022 NWMC

The Pangasinan State University – San Carlos Campus’ Gender and Development Unit spearheaded an extension activity entitled “Webinar on GAD Orientation and Gender-Related Laws in the Adopted Barangay of PSU-SC” for the barangay officials and residents of Barangay Naguilayan, San Carlos City, Pangasinan last September 11, 2020.Such endeavor aims to educate the participants on gender equality as a fundamental value that should be reflected in development choices and asserts that women are active agents of development, not just passive recipients of development in the community.

The extension activity was officially started with the opening remarks and statement of purpose of Dr. Janelle D. Rosal, coordinator for Gender and Development. It was followed by an inspirational message and lecture from Dr. Presley De Vera, Director of Gender and Development.
