In a vibrant celebration of International Women’s Day, the entire PSU family is donning purple to commemorate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. On this special day, the PSU SCC campus came alive with a series of activities aimed at recognizing and promoting the significance of women’s contributions in various fields.

The day kicked off with a spirited photo opportunity involving dedicated teaching and non-teaching personnel, who gathered to commemorate the Month-long celebration. Dr. Jannelle D. Rosal, the Gender and Development Matriarch, was at the forefront of these activities, exemplifying the commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Dr. Marie Claire B. Briones, Campus Executive Director, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness against bias, stereotypes, and discrimination faced by women and the need for collective action towards achieving gender equality.

Dr. Cristina L. Javier, the Dean of Teacher Education, shared her insights on the purpose of the celebration, highlighting the invaluable role of women as active contributors to and claimholders of educational development.

Dr. Balbina R. Gutierrez, Dean of Agriculture, underscored the significant impact of women in building an industrialized and globally competitive agriculture sector, particularly in driving economic recovery during the ongoing pandemic.

Dr. Juliet V. Menor, Dean of Hospitality Management, Business & Computing, emphasized the importance of advancing gender parity in technology and celebrated women’s contributions to innovation.

This year’s celebration is guided by the theme “Agenda ng Kababaihan Tungo sa Kaunlaran: We Make Change Work for Women,” reinforcing the commitment to advancing women’s rights and empowering them to make a meaningful impact in various sectors.

As the PSU community comes together to celebrate International Women’s Day, the message is clear: Women’s contributions are instrumental in shaping a better future for all. Happy Women’s Month, PSUnians!
