Christmas is all about giving, therefore 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲-𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 shared blessings and learnings to the community of Badjao located in Barangay Bugallon Posadas and Burgos Padlan, San Carlos City, Pangasinan on December 11 and 12, 2024. This was done through the extension project organized by the College of Teacher Education in collaboration with its all faculty and student organizations.

The first day of the program was conducted in Brgy. Bugallon Posadas with the theme, “𝑩𝒊𝒚𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒂𝒈𝒎𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒍 𝒂𝒕 𝑷𝒂𝒈-𝒂𝒔𝒂 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒂 𝒔𝒂 𝑷𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒂𝒅𝒋𝒂𝒐,” where each Badjao were given food packs and clothes to secure their basic needs.

On the second day, it was conducted in Brgy. Burgos Padlan with the theme, “𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑽𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔: 𝑬𝒏𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒄 𝑳𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑳𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑨𝒑𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑩𝒂𝒅𝒋𝒂𝒐 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚.” With the extension proponents namely: 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐚 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐲, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐢 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐬, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐞𝐚 𝐓𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐳𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐬. 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐆𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐳, together with the BSE Social Studies students, Basics in Reading, Reading Comprehension, etc were taught. Furthermore, reading materials were distributed also to the community. Everyone involved actively participated. Then it was followed by the distribution of the gifts such as food packs and clothes prepared by the faculty of CTE and education students.

Both the Badjao community in Brgy. Bugallon Posadas and Burgos Padlan do not forget to express their gratitude towards the faculty and students. As the program ends, everyone departs with a smile on their faces. This kind of experience surely brought lasting joyful memories to the Badjao community and also to the university proving that even if there is diversity, unity is possible as long as love prevails in our hearts.

Indeed, the institution is committed to fulfill one of its 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒄 𝑮𝒐𝒂𝒍𝒔: 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉, 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑬𝒙𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒔, by providing service not only within the classroom but also to different communities.
