The Pangasinan State University – San Carlos Campus’ BS Hospitality Management Department headed by their Program Chairperson, Dr. Marmie R. Poquiz, conducted an extension activity entitled “Livelihood Training Program through Food Preservation” for the faculty members, students, barangay officials, and residents of Barangay Naguilayan, San Carlos City, Pangasinan on July 26-27, 2021.

Said training was to help the participants learn the new technologies on Pickling and Sugar Concentration as they venture into business.   Participants learned how to mix, match and measure ingredients, especially the use of curing solutions as additives for perfect food preservation. The methods used in creating frozen and pickling foods were demonstrated by the lecturer.  Participants also learned the basic ingredients and equipment, curing and pickling techniques, food sanitation, and safety.

After the lecture, the participants gained new knowledge on dealing with chores and got more interest in this kind of venture. Participants are also taught about different innovative ideas, food temperature, and commercial packaging.
